Greg Abbott, Texas Attorney General, will defend the right of public school cheerleaders in a small Texas town to display religious messages at their school's football games. An atheist organization has complained about the practice and prompted the court case by their objections to the displaying of the Christian messages according to Abbott and Texas Governor Rick Perry.
The Attorney General seems to be on the right side of this court action if the First Amendment is any indicator. Quoted in part it reads as "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
